It's Too Late ...

My son's pre-school just called me and gave me the bad news.

I'm sorry to hear that. Poor little guy. It looks like you have a major challenge in your parenting explaining this to him but again, I know you will consult worthy resources and deal with it in the best way you can empowering your little one rather than upsetting him. That's really tough for everyone and my sympathy goes out to you. Again, it may be tough for him to understand but he has quite the rock of a Dad to depend on and be there for him through this and anything.

i too am really sorry to hear about this situation. while Teo's age may make it hard for him to understand what's happening, children also have a remarkable ability to quickly bounce back that adults have lost. cold comfort - i know. try to take it a little bit easy on yourself too.

Sheesh thats awful. When my cat leaves mouse parts at our front door in the morning I quickly dispose of them before my 3yo daughter sees it since I'd have to explain death and it just hasn't come up yet. Not sure how to approach that, especially since I don't believe the standard Judeo/Christian explanations. But they're the easiest for the kids to swallow. I guess I'll pull out something creative when the time comes.

Matthew, I basically just use the traditional explanations of death and heaven to explain this kind of stuff to the kids even though they are not fully my beliefs
